  • The group discussed the concept of mindset 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and how it relates to navigating competing priorities and the importance of making elegant choices with our non-renewable resource of time. They also talked about the need to flex and adapt in different situations.
  • The group discussed the importance of being conscious and intentional in leadership, holding space for priorities while navigating urgent needs, and considering succession and sustainability for the organization. They also talked about the potential negative consequences of overprotecting the team and not allowing them to make their own decisions.

"Leadership Agility" - 3mins

The group discussed leadership agility and the importance of being able to switch hats and adapt to rapidly changing environments. They also engaged in a role-playing exercise to practice problem-solving skills in high-stress situations.

 
 

"Pivotal Conversations" - 15mins

  • Debrief of "Dr. Harper & Dr. Smith" group activity. The group debriefed and had negotiations and discussions about prioritizing resources and finding win-win solutions for their respective needs, with a focus on the greater good. They also emphasized the importance of putting their needs on the table and being open to horse trading to reach a practical solution.
  • Jodie led a discussion on negotiation mindset and how to approach conversations with an open mind and focus on the greater good. A and Virginia shared their experiences and discussed the importance of starting high and working their way down in negotiations

"Approaching Conversations with a Different Mindset" - 16mins

  • Jodie and Dr. Kimberly discussed the importance of approaching conversations with a different mindset to achieve a win-win outcome. They encouraged the group to reflect on recent conversations and share their experiences with each other.
  • Jodie and Dr. Kimberly and others discussed the importance of understanding and meeting the core needs of others in order to achieve goals and avoid power struggles. They also emphasized the importance of reciprocity in communication and being open about one's own needs. 
  • The group discussed various topics such as customer relationships, transparency, and compressed timelines. They shared their experiences and perspectives on how to navigate these challenges in the real world.

  • Jodie and others discussed how power dynamics can affect behavior and how leaders need to adapt to changes in the industry. They also talked about the overwhelm and unsustainability of being an expert or achiever superhero, and how Ed was operating in his messy world as a catalyst.
